Why a lizard?

First of all. Take a long thought about WHY you want a lizard. Is it because you want a "cool" animal to show your friends? Or is it because it is popular to have an unusual pet? Or do you really have a genuine interest in lizards and reptiles? A bearded dragon is not a cat or a dog - it is a reptile and shall be treated like that. A reptile needs special care.

Are you willing to spend a lot of time and money on your beardie? Maybe give up holiday trips because you can't find anyone that want to feed your beardie crickets when you're gone? Are you willing to pay for a veterinarian if your beardie gets sick (it can be quite expensive)? Are you aware of that a lot of cleaning comes along with a beardie?

And it takes time. Or - it should take time anyway - if you give it the proper care that it requires.

Of course I don't want to scare you off, buying a bearded dragon - but you shall think BEFORE you buy it. An animal isn't anything you get rid of if it wasn't what you expected. It is your job to take care of it as long as it lives. I don't regret getting my beardies - not for a second - but it is a lot more work than I thought it would be..!
